Ongeki Weapons

This article is about a list of arsenal in Kamen Rider Hibiki.

Ongeki (音撃, Ongeki Sound Attack) are the instrumental weapons that the Oni in Kamen Rider Hibiki use to battle Makamou. The Ongeki follows three of the four types of musical instruments plus Vocal transducer. They are Percussion instrument, Wind instrument and String instrument. To enable the sound of purification, the weapons are each fitted with one or two Onisho.

History[]

The Ongeki are known to have existed as far back as the Sengoku period, and are inherited from master to disciple. Scientists of the organisation Takeshi such as Midori Takizawa are able to modify and power up the instruments in order to enable to Oni to produce the purest sound possible. Each of the Ongekihave a secondary weapon function besides its instrumental function.

List of Instruments and Devices[]

Ongeki Weapons can be roughly divided into three types: Percussion, Wind, and Strings.

The weapons of percussion are: Ongekibou, Ongekikanabou, Ongekiko, Ongekitriangle, Ongekicymbal.
The weapons of wind are: Ongekikan, Ongekimei and Ongekiflute.
The weapons of String are: Ongekigen and Ongekishin.
While the Oni Riders touch on all of them during their training, they eventually choose one to specialize in it, but there are also mighty Oni Rider who are good at everything.
In addition, there is a Vocal Ongeki Weapon, called Ongekizofukuken Armed Saber, which can strengthen the user's sound.
In Sengoku era,Henshin Onsa can possessed a 'katana mode' called the Meito Onsaken (鳴刀・音叉剣（オンサケン）, Meito Onsaken).

Percussion users utilize their instruments to drum the sound of purification, either straight into the Makamou, or from a distance. They drum using a device called a Ongekikou, which enlarges to a metaphysical drum when attached to a Makamou or in midair if one has the ability such as Touki.

The Ongekibou (音撃棒, Ongekibō, lit. "Sound Attack Clubs") are a type of Ongeki Weapon that consists of a pair of taiko drumsticks (bachi) to be used with an Ongekiko that enables the Oni to executes the Sound of Purification.

Ongekikanabou (音撃金棒, Ongekikanabō, lit. "Sound Attack Kanabou") is an Ongeki weapon shaped as a large club that is used like a Gong hammer in co-junction with a Ongekiko by the Oni. It is named after the Kanabō which was a spiked or studded two-handed war club used in feudal Japan by the samurai, also a weapon that resembles what Oni in Japanese mythology would use.

Ongekiko (音撃鼓, Ongekikō, lit. "Sound Attack Drum") is a generic term for Ongeki Weapon based on percussion instruments, attaches on the Oni's Equipment Belt. The Oni presses it into the Makamou's body to form a drum for their Ongekida finishers.

Ongekitriangle (音撃三角（トライアングル）, Ongeki Toraianguru, lit. "Sound Attack Triangle") is a percussion type Ongeki in the shape of a Triangle. The instrument has a second mode as a Three-section staff. Th weapon is unique in that the Onisho is not situated on the Ongeki, but on the Onsa. To perform the Sound of Purification, the Ongeki needs to be linked together and then the Oni must hit his Onsa at it to send triangle shaped sound-waves at a target.

Ongekicymbal (音撃震張（シンバル）, Ongeki Shinbaru, lit. "Sound Attack Cymbal") is a percussion type Ongeki in the shape of two Cymbals. The instrument has a second function as they are fitted with blades so that they can be thrown like a discus. There are two Onisho fitted on each side of the handles. The Sound of Purification is performed by smashing the two Ongekicymbal together and directing it at the target.

There are two types of wind instruments, which are known as Brass instrument and Woodwind instrument.

Ongekikan (音撃管, Ongekikan lit. "Sound Attack Tube") is the brass instrument-like Ongeki Weapon, such as trumpet, trombone, etc. Used as regular firearms, and for the Ongeki Finisher, the Oni fires Onishi into the Makamou, then attaches the Ongekimei to the muzzle, along with the mouthpiece at the lead pipe (rear of the main body), changed into the "Ongeki Mode", the Onisho are then ignited by the Sound of Purification through the Ongekikan.

Ongekimei (音撃鳴, Ongekimei "Sound Attack Echo") is a device that attaches on a trumpet-type Oni's Equipment Belt. The Oni attache it to the front of Ongekikan after attaching the mouthpiece. It forms a horn for the trumpet to use for their Ongekisha finishers.

Ongekiflute (音撃吹道（フルート）, Ongeki Furūto, lit. "Sound Attack Flute") is a wind-type Ongeki Weapon in the shape of a long staff-like, transverse flute.

Ongekigen (音撃弦, Ongekigen lit. "Sound Attack Chord") is a string based Ongeki. They are usually in the form of a guitar, and are the string-type Oni's typical weapon of choice. Ongekigens are used like bladed eku in combat. The Onishi is typically situated at the end before the edge.

Ongekishin (音撃震, Ongekishin lit. "Sound Attack Quake") is a device used by String Oni. If used, it should be attached on Ongekigen to turn it into a guitar, just for their Ongeki Finishers. When not in use, it is usually lodged on the buckle part of their Equipment Belt.

The Ongekizofukuken Armed Saber (音撃増幅剣・装甲声刃（アームドセイバー）, Ongeki Zōfuku Ken Āmudo Seibā, lit. "Armored Voice Blade" (装甲声刃, Sōkō Seiba)) is a strongest Ongeki Weapon created by Kogure Konosuke that can greatly increase the power of an Oni. By pressing the button on the bottom of the saber, Hibiki is engulfed with a fiery aura. Disk Animals swarm to him changing into his armor as he transforms into Armed Hibiki.

In Sengoku era,Henshin Onsa can possessed a 'katana mode' called the Meito Onsaken (鳴刀・音叉剣（オンサケン）, Meito Onsaken).
