This article is about a race of monsters in Kamen Rider Saber. |
The Megid (メギド, Megido) are monsters created by the Alter Ride Books that appear in Kamen Rider Saber. They are manifested by a triumvirate consisting of Storious, Legeiel, and Zooous, all of whom sought after the Almighty Book to recreate the world in their image.[1]
Types[]
The Megid are divided into three categories that are equivalent to those of Wonder Ride Books:
- Phantom Beast (幻獣, Genjū): Based on mythological creatures.
- Animal (生物, Seibutsu): Based on living creatures.
- Story (物語, Monogatari): Based on stories.
History[]
Storious, Legeiel, and Zooous, along with Victor and Master Logos. were among the first five humans to find the Wonder World guided by an unnamed priestess through the Almighty Book. Unlike Victor and Master Logos who sought to use the Almighty Book to help humanity, Storious led Legiel and Zooous to seize the book's powers for themselves, ripping out some of the pages and imbuing their power onto themselves, becoming the Megid. Victor and Master Logos would combat them, resullting a centuries-long campaign to restore the book so that they might claim its power for themselves.
Fifteen years prior the series, all Megid are unsealed by Hayato Fukamiya to distract the other Swordsmen while he sought to claim the Almighty Book. Daichi Kamijo caught wind of his plans and defeated him in battle, but took his Seiken for himself to become the next incarnation of Kamen Rider Calibur. Calibur became an ally to the Megid in their goals to terraform the world into a new story.

Behind the Scenes[]
The Megid are designed by Yasushi Torisawa, who has previously designed several characters in Engine Sentai Go-Onger and Tensou Sentai Goseiger and provided artworks in Kamen Rider Build.
Notes[]
- The name Megid is likely in reference to Tel Megiddo, an archaeological site in Israel that is also said to be Armageddon, the location of the final battle between good and evil at the end of time, according to the Bible's Book of Revelation.
- The Black Bookshelves are portrayed by actors with dual Japanese and American heritage.
- The suits of the three Black Bookshelves' monster forms feature eyes that are illuminated, though it is often hard to see on Storious due to his eyes being nearly closed. This feature is usually reserved for Kamen Riders.
- The Megid share themed book categories as Kamen Rider Saber, Kamen Rider Blades, and Kamen Rider Espada
- Phantom Beast Megid correspond to Saber.
- Animal Megid correspond to Blades.
- Story Megid correspond to Espada.
- With the exception of unique head sculpts, most Megid share a single base body design.
