This article is about a villain group in Kamen Rider Geats. |
The Jyamato (ジャマト, Jamato)[1] are monsters that appear in Kamen Rider Geats. They were originally mindless beings created for the Desire Grand Prix to serve as enemies to its players, but have evolved and gained sentience through Archimedel's cultivation. In each round, they appear in a space called the Jyamar Area.
Overview[]
The Jyamato have existed for many years, but are not known to the general public due to the Desire Grand Prix erasing the memories of them from all those unaffiliated with the organization. The Jyamato are created and grown inside the Jyamar Garden from tree-like plants by the mysterious gardener Archimedel who feeds them Rider Core ID data from deceased DGP contestants, which causes them to evolve much more rapidly than other forms of life. Their basic behavior and physiology can be altered and often center on specific schema or motif that the DGP uses to organize different games. An example of this is seen with the Trump Jyamato, which are invulnerable to harm unless certain conditions are met while showing a tendency to target romantic couples.[Encounter IV: Duo Concentration]
There are currently five known categories of Jyamato; Pawns are the weakest and function as footsoldiers. Rooks are much stronger than pawns and are capable of defeating armed Riders on their own. Bishops are currently seen to take on human appearances as a disguise, Knights are among the strongest class of Jyamato, and according to information from the DGP, can potentially become powerful enough to destroy the entire world, while the non-humanoid Fortresses are naturally giant than normal-sized Jyamato, and often appear in the final round.[Encounter VI: Last Boss and Kicking Can]
Their exact intellectual capacity is unknown, however previous participants of the Labyrinth Escape Game discovered the Jyamato do at least have a spoken language of their own.[Conspiracy III: Slot★Fever] Their evolution from being fed upon the cracked ID Cores of deceased participants seems to be much more drastic in terms of their offensive capabilities, resulting in their ability to effectively utilize Desire Drivers and their corresponding Jyamato buckles to transform into their own unique Rider Forms, the Jyamato Riders.
While the gardener Archimedel hopes for the freedom and prosperity of Jyamato, the sponsor Beroba only treats Jyamato as an entertainment for herself to enjoy the misfortune of people. With the destruction of the Jyamar Garden causing major deaths of Jyamato as well as the loss of a breeding ground, the remaining Jyamatos become the players of the Jyamato Grand Prix to create a world of their own. However, with the high-ranking Jyamato being defeated by the DGP participants one by one, their numbers would then be reduced to just the Dunkleosteus Jyamato along with a group of Pawns. Michinaga Azuma's victory in the JGP as the Jyamar Shin would bring about a massive revival of all of the Jyamato in the world. The Dunkleosteus Jyamato later becomes the new leader of the Jyamato as it consumes Archimedel and assumes his form and memory, however the Jyamatos become astray and operate independently after its death.
Once the Grand End is postponed by Geats IX, Daichi Isuzu takes control of the leadership and cultivation of the remaining Jyamato, with Daichi himself also mutating into the Marrella Jyamato. Daichi's research furthered the Jyamato's evolution, allowing them to become microscopic in size and convert human beings into more Pawn Jyamato by infecting them. While a Stage 1 infection caused by a single Jyamato can be easily reversed upon the Jyamato's defeat, a Stage 2 infection caused by multiple Jyamato cannot be reverted, with the human host being absorbed into the Tree of Knowledge upon defeat. However, Daichi himself would later develop a formula to restore at least Sara Sakurai from the tree.
Daichi, later having a change of heart and acting out of repentance, takes command of the Jyamato and allies himself with Ace Ukiyo's group of Kamen Riders, rebelling against Suel's resumption of the Grand End. After Suel's defeat and the revamp of the Desire Grand Prix into one for peace, Daichi is now working on creating a new breed of Jyamato with kind hearts, wishing to having the race co-exist with humanity.
The arrival of the god-killers Mela and Melo from the future would later bring the true origins of the Jyamato to light, as being born from the seeds of mutated plants that dominated the Earth of the future people's era, which had long since been ravaged to ruins.[Kamen Rider Geats: 4 Aces and the Black Fox]
