Apollogeist's Last General Attack!! (アポロガイスト 最後の総攻撃!!, Aporo Gaisuto Saigo no Sōkōgeki!!) is the twenty-first episode of Kamen Rider X. It features the final showdown with Revived Apollogeist and introduces the leader of G.O.D., Kingdark.
Synopsis[]
G.O.D. revives its past monsters and sends them after the X Rider, led by their Chief of Secret Police Apollogeist. Faced with such overwhelming odds, the X Rider finds himself in a crisis.
Plot[]
The episode in G.O.D.'s secret base in Japan: the Palace of Apollon. Apollogeist was at the shooting range training for the sole purpose of defeating X. He's shocked to see that most of his shots missed the bullseye. He orders the guard captain to retrieve his results for the past week. By comparing the targets, he sees that for the last three days his aim has been getting worse. He suspects his trigger finger is getting weaker. This suspicion was reinforced when he couldn't even lift up his cup of coffee.
He would visit Dr. Miyamoto and demand an explanation for his weakened state, only to be told by Miyamoto that his revival was only limited to a month and will progress from finger paralysis, to loss of leg control and then finally a cease in brain function. Apollogeist asks how long he had left and was told today at the earliest, tomorrow at the latest. Apollogeist demanded that Miyamoto perform the surgery on him again, but because Kawakami had been killed by Apollogeist, Miyamoto is unable to perform a second surgery alone. Miyamoto explained that a potential way to live longer was to install Kamen Rider X's Perfecter into his system. Apollogeist thanked Kawakami for his advice and proceeded to shoot and kill him.
At the race track, a seemingly alive Miyamoto attacks Tachibana and was stopped by Keisuke Jin. Keisuke was shocked to see Miyamoto as the last time they met was at the Palace of Apollon. Miyamoto rose and spoke with Apollogeist's voice issuing his final challenge to Keisuke. They will settle things once and for all at the Palace of Apollon's fighting arena. If Keisuke doesn't show up in twelve hours, he will kill Chiko and Mako. With a final declaration of how much he was looking forward to seeing him, Miyamoto's body fall limp and explodes.
Keisuke speeds off to Coffee House COL hoping they were still there, only to find that he was too late as he saw bodies littering the floor. A G.O.D. commander's doll was left behind and through it Apollogeist reminds him to be at the Palace of Apollon within twelve hours. Keisuke retorts that he doesn't even know where that is. Naturally, Apollogeist provided him a map, but warns him not to assume he'll make it there alive. As he studied the map, Keisuke thinks back on the warning he was given. Suddenly, the bodies started moving and were revealed to be G.O.D. Kaijin in disguise. Specifically, Mach Achilles, Ulysses and Prometheus who were all revived by Apollogeist to kill Keisuke. The three of them gang up on him with the fight being brought outside. Keisuke transforms into X and defeats Ulysses with his Rider Electro Shock and Prometheus with the Rider Crown Splitter. Mach Achilles tries to flee, but X restrains him with the Ridol Rope. Tachibana shows up and is told by X that Apollogeist wasn't bluffing and that Chiko and Mako have truly been kidnapped. Tachibana is angry at Mach Achilles for wrecking his shop, but X asks him to be patient for the kaijin still has his uses. He plans to use Mach Achilles to give them the edge against Apollogeist. Mach Achilles is in disbelief that they'd think he'd help them, but X tells him that he should make the most of his second chance at life with Tachibana agreeing by chiming in that even a G.O.D. kaijin would want to live. Mach Achilles agrees to help both on the promise that X will spare him and that he was tired of following Apollogeist's orders.
As Keisuke and Mach Achilles drive off in a jeep, Tachibana is cleaning up his shop while cursing G.O.D. and says that he should send them a compensation claim. He gets spooked when a stack of bills is suddenly thrown onto his counter as a voice laughs that it should cover the refurbishments. Apollogeist reveals himself to Tachibana and gives him some more money to pay for Keisuke's funeral as he didn't want his enemies thinking ill of him. Tachibana rejects it and demands he let the girls go before going for a punch. Apollogeist easily dodges it and knocks him out before carrying him away.
At the Palace of Apollon, Keisuke and Mach Achilles pretend that Keisuke had been captured to enter the building. Their ruse works and Mach Achilles brings Keisuke directly to Apollogeist. Apollogeist suddenly killed Mach Achilles and reveals that their plan, while clever, didn't fool him. Keisuke runs out of the room in search of Chiko and Mako. He hears their cries coming from a room only to see that it was just a recording. He's confronted by three more revived kaijin; Hercules, Reaper Chronos and Cerberus. He transforms again to fight them off. After defeating each of them, he calls out to Apollogeist demanding where he is. Apollogeist reveals himself on stage where the episode began.
X demands to know where the hostages are and Apollogeist points off to the distance where Chiko and Mako were tied up. X assures them that he'll save them, but Apollogeist reveals the he has a third hostage as Tachibana is lead to a guillotine manned by a revived Medusa. X summons the Cruiser to save Tachibana and it does so by knocking Medusa in the way of the guillotine blade which gets her beheaded. Tachibana runs off to save the girls at X's prompting.
X and Apollogeist have their final clash, exchanging blows. Apollogeist fires his Apollo Magnum at X, but misses due to his slowly weakening body. X taunts him saying he's not the marksman he used to be. Apollogeist reveals to X that he is dying and doesn't have a lot of time left, but he won't die alone for he intends to take X down with him. With a final farewell to G.O.D., he assumed the form of a giant fireball but was ultimately destroyed by X's X Kick. His death is followed by the Palace of Apollon exploding.
As X contemplates the end of Apollogeist, another voice adds that it will also be the end of the Palace of Apollon. The one who spoke revealed himself to be Kingdark and that he looks forward to the day he and X will fight. X rides off on the Cruiser as he is dogged by a strange feeling of uneasiness in regards to this new enemy.
