This article is about an ally in Kamen Rider Ghost. |
Akari Tsukimura (月村 アカリ, Tsukimura Akari) is an ally in Kamen Rider Ghost.
History[]
Background[]
Akari Tsukimura is the childhood friend of Takeru Tenkuji. In the past, the pair would play together in the Daitenku Temple with Makoto and Kanon Fukami. She is about one year older than Takeru and treats him like a younger brother, while also engaging in daily quarrels with Onari. Akari would go on to become a student at Yanagisaka University of Science majoring in physics. As she processes everything scientifically, Akari refused to acknowledge the existence of ghosts despite Takeru being conditioned to become a ghost hunter like his father.
The Fifteen Heroes Eyecons[]
On Takeru's eighteenth birthday, Akari arrives at the Daitenku Temple to meet with her friend, while remaining skeptical of the existence of ghosts and finding science more interesting. When the Katana and Yari Gamma tries to attack her, Takeru saves her and tries to fight the monster off despite Akari and Onari unable to see what he was doing. Although she tries to deny that ghosts exists, Takeru would end up being killed in front of her. However, her friend would be return as Kamen Rider Ghost and tasked to collect fifteen Heroes' Eyecons if he seeks to resurrect himself.
Despite intially denying that Takeru had died and became a ghost, Akari would begin to assist Takeru and form the Mysterious Phenomenon Institute to solve paranormal cases that may be related to the Gamma. She began using her scientific knowledge to support Kamen Rider Ghost's battles against the Gamma. Using Ryu Tenkuji's research, she invented the Shiranui, allowing her to see ghost-like creatures by spraying a golden dust.
While assisting Takeru against the Gamma, the mysterious Kamen Rider Specter would emerge to collect the Heroes' Eyecons for an unknown purpose. Akari knew how much fear was instilled upon Takeru following his encounters with Specter and encouraged him to not be frightened. She would later discover that Specter is actually her long lost friend Makoto Fukami, who seeks to revive his sister Kanon.
Although the fifteen Heroes Eyecons were gathered, Takeru decided to wish for Kanon's resurrection. With his days growing shorter, Takeru decided to spend his last days with his friends. After a battle against Jabel, Akari and Onari were forced to watch Takeru ascending to the skies until he was revived as Ghost Toucon Boost, elating Akari. Takeru is given a new mission to connect with the Eyecons. As a result, Takeru is given an additional 99 days to complete his mission.
The Eyecon Connection[]
Akari would continue to accompany Takeru as he embarks to connect with the Eyecons, while gathering the ones that are still lost. Meanwhile, the Gamma forces were increasing in strength as they began kidnapping human souls. Furthermore, Gamma Superiors had made their way to Earth and the Gamma Prince Alain transformed into Kamen Rider Necrom. As the Eyecons began possessing civilians, Akari and Onari would help contain the situation until Takeru would gain their approval to use their powers.
The Demia Project[]
The Mysterious Phenomenon Institute would assist with the Kamen Riders to face Adel, the elder brother of Alain who usurped the role as Gamma emperor. The Kamen Riders would eventually come face to face with the Gammaizers, artificial deities of the Gamma World assisting Adel in his mysterious Demia Project. While she was initally hesitant to trust Alain after he was ousted from the Gamma, Akari eventually believed in his good side enough to encourage him and Takeru to rescue Makoto's original body in the Gamma World.
During a battle with the Gammaizers, the Ore Eyecon would shatter which caused Takeru's third death. While his death saddened Akari, she resolved to not give up. Together, she and her comrades performed a miracle that allowed Takeru to come back to life. This granted him the Mugen Eyecon, allowing Takeru to access his final form, Mugen Damashii, using the form of light to connect everything infinitely. However, despite coming back the third time, he is still in a ghost state.
When an audition was organized to look for a new member for the idol group Harp+y 4, Akari joined the audition and eventually won the part. She would learn how to perform dance moves with Honami. At the same time, Takeru was talking to the other members of the group, Yu, Mari and Ako. During Akari's first time on stage as the new member of Harp+y 4, she fakes an injury on stage to convince Honami to rejoin the group and reclaim her original spot.
War for the Great Eye[]
As Adel embarks to use Demia to transform Earth like the Gamma World, Akari assists the Kamen Riders to destroy the Demia servers as they continue battling the resurfaced Gammaizers. After Adel connects with the Great Eye, he revives all of the Gammaizers. Akari later accompanies her companions to the Gamma World to assist in fighting Adel's forces.
Although the Gammaizers took over Adel at the last minute, Takeru was the one to strike him down honorably to let his spirit pass away in peace. The Gammaizers forcibly fuses with the Great Eye to become the Great Eyezer. Akari continues to help the civillians as the Gammaizers declared humanity deserves to be eradicated. Ultimately, Takeru was able to defeat the Gammaizers and celebrate with him after he was finally turned human.
With the Gammaizers gone for good and Takeru fully revived, the others meets a boy named Ayumu, who is being pursued by a mysterious black Kamen Rider. In the end, Akari decided to retire from the Mysterious Phenomenon Institute to pursue science.

Personality[]
Akari is very logical and does not believe in ghosts, often trying to explain away any odd phenomenon using scientific principles and terms. She is very stubborn about her belief in science and often gets into arguments with Onari. While she has a hard time believing in anything she cannot explain, she does have faith and trust in Takeru as a friend and is there to support him.
Due to their shared background as scientists, Akari has developed a rivalry with Igor from the Gamma World. Despite him appearing to be a threat, Akari is not afraid to stand up to him, even going so far as to slap him a few times in the series, humiliating him badly.
Akari is very enthusiastic about science and gets along well with those who feel similarly. She wished to take Takeru with her to a science expo. In contrast to her rivalry with the mad scientist Igor, she bonded strongly with Rinna Sawagami over their shared passion for science, and they even went into battle together, with Rinna calling them the "science sisters". Akari also has great admiration for historical figures known for their contributions to the fields of science or their attitudes on science, such as Thomas Edison, Leonardo da Vinci, and Harry Houdini.
Her personality changes upon being possessed by Beethoven Damashii, in that she becomes an energetic musician, now talking as if she were singing in an opera. She also tends to add musical terms or things related to music and composing music.

Edison Damashii (エジソン魂, Ejison Damashī, lit. Accessed through the Edison Ghost Eyecon, this form bears the Persona Inventor (ペルソナインベンター, Perusona Inbentā) helmet with the Face Light-bulb (フェイスライトバルブ, Feisu Raitobarubu) faceplate.[1] Akari is possessed by Edison in the stage show and assumes this form.
While assuming Edison Damashii, Ghost dons the Sparking Hood (スパーキングフード, Supākingu Fūdo) adorned with the Filament Shaft (フィラメントシャフト, Firamento Shafuto) where she is able to conduct electricity and use it to charge up her Gan Gun Saber in its Gun Mode for electricity-based shooting attacks, as well as "spark" some thought into Ghost whenever the Sparking Hood receives electrical stimuli.[2]

- One of Akari's favorite historical figures is Harry Houdini, whom she adores due to having the similar mindsets of debunking supernatural existences.
- In Super Movie Wars Genesis, the past version of Akari expressed a deep admiration for the famous Renaissance genius, Leonardo da Vinci, which made the Gamma target her for the creation of an Eyecon based on him.
- Akari can be seen wearing glasses whenever she faces the computer. Considering that she has neither signs of refractions, this may be hint that the glasses are simply for UV protection, namely photochromic lens.

- Akari being possesed by the Beethoven Eyecon could be explained by her surname containing the word moon (月, Tsuki), given that one of Beethoven's most famous compositions is the Moonlight Sonata.
