Tsurutaro Kataoka (片岡 鶴太郎, Kataoka Tsurutarō) is a Japanese television personality, actor, artist, and former professional boxer. He portrays Jun Honganji.[1]

He celebrated his 60th birthday while filming for Drive's fifteenth episode. [2]

Bio[]

He initially started out, after graduating high school, trying to find an apprenticeship to become an actor. Eventually he settled on working as a civil engineer worker until he was taken under wing by Tsuruhachi Kataoka under the arts of vocal mimicry. He made his debut as a comedian on Fuji TV's Comedy Gathering. As he got older, he began distancing himself from comedy and began delving more into arts, yoga, and meditation.

Personal life[]

He used to be married, but is now divorced as of March 2017. He leaves behind three sons. Due to his devotion to his newly growing passion for arts and yoga, it caused a rift in his marriage.

Notes[]

  • Tsurutaro Kataoka's height and weight were fictionalized into his character in episode 16 of Kamen Rider Drive alongside Ryoma Takeuchi, Shinnosuke Tomari's actor. However, their blood types were switched (Kataoka's blood type is O while Jun is A, with Shinnosuke/Takeuchi is the other way round).
  • Kataoka had beat the late Hiroyuki Watanabe's record of being the oldest actor who transformed into a Rider physically on-screen. Kataoka's record was later beaten by Hideki Kurauchi, who is only a year Kataoka's senior, as Ittetsu Tanba/Kamen Rider Keilow.
